KYN Bickley is inviting you to a week-long programme of events to help improve your understanding of dementia and find out what support is available for you and your loved ones
To mark the Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Action Week 2024, all events will take place at KYN Bickley in Bromley, and places must be booked in advance.
Monday, 13th May, 12-1pm: Words Matter: Redefining Language in Dementia Care
A lively debate on dementia-friendly language. Guest panellists include Professor Martin Green from Care England, Professor Tom Owen from My Home Life, City University, and writer and family carer Beth Britton.
Tuesday, 14th May, 12-1pm: Hilary Woodhead on Activities for People Living with Dementia
Hilary Woodhead, Chief Executive of NAPA, will be talking about how to provide meaningful activities for people living with dementia in their own homes.
Tuesday, 14th May 4-5pm: We transport you to Paris at our Motitech event.
Through initiatives like Motitech, which promotes better balance and muscle strength, and can therefore reduce the frequency of falls, KYN boosts emotional wellbeing and empower participants to discover new capabilities and relish the joys of living.
Wednesday, 15th May, 3-5pm: Songs and Scones and Sondheim, performed by Lily Armstrong.
Delight in an afternoon of timeless melodies as Lily Armstrong performs a captivating selection of songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s by legendary composer Stephen Sondheim.
Thursday, 16th May, 12-1pm: Living with Lewy Body Dementia
Specialist, Admiral Nurse, Rachel Thompson will be in conversation with Chris Maddock, Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador, about living with the condition.
Friday, 17th May, 11.30-1pm: ‘River of Life’
This special family workshop with Alison Charles that will help you to unearth and preserve treasured memories using the ‘River of Life’ model of reminiscence.
