Galliard Homes has launched Crescent House, a gated development comprising 36 luxury one, two and three-bedroom apartments, including a pair of penthouses
Located just off 220-acre Clapham Common, Crescent House is a 24,757 sqft mock-Tudor crescent-shaped brick and stone building. The three-storey Edwardian manor has a grand Tudor-style entrance, oriel windows with stone casements, friezes, mock-battlements, feature brickwork and mansard roof with dormer windows.
Between 1086-1936 the historic site was occupied by a grand manor house, known as Grove Lodge, which over the centuries was home to a series of wealthy families including the de Mandeville family (the Earls of Essex), Dr Henry Atkins (physician to King James I and Charles I), William Hewer (friend of Samuel Pepys), Edward Polhill (City of London grandee) and finally Francis Child of the Child & Co banking dynasty.
In 1936 Grove Lodge was demolished and replaced in 1937 by the current mock-Tudor building, built for and occupied by the Union of Post Office workers, becoming vacant in 2012. The Edwardian building retained the footprint and carriage drive of Grove Lodge; with pairs of peasants (from the coat-of-arms of the Earls of Essex) incorporated into the stone friezes on the building, and the oriel windows recalling the architecture of the original Tudor manor house.
The building’s mock-Tudor Edwardian façade is being retained, but inside Galliard Homes is creating new refurbished interiors and offering buyers a choice of styles and layouts in time for completion in May 2016.
All the apartments have a reception room with an open-plan fitted designer kitchen/breakfast area. All the bedrooms have deep built in wardrobes.
The two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses have master bedroom suites with ensuite bathrooms/shower rooms.
The two and three-bedroom garden level apartments open onto large private terraced gardens. The penthouses have a main reception room, kitchen/dining space and two bedrooms, and front and rear private rooftop terraces.
Other features include flat screen mounted TVs, mood lighting, Wifi enabled, LED recessed lighting and video entry phone/CCTV security.
Stephen Conway, Chief Executive of Galliard Homes said: “Crescent House is one of the most sought after addresses in Clapham.
